Not Rothko
A new sketch today. Called it Not Rothko because it’s inspired by Rothko. I love Mark Rothko. I’ve experienced some of his work live.
It seems like something you can do on the garage door with a roller.
But its not that easy. Even this one, I must have had 2 or 3 goes at it in different versions. Then this particular one has about 25 layers of rubbed out and reinserted versions. I play until I get something and then I stop. I like it. So I’ve put it in the blog post because I want to write about my dilemma.
Is this the sort of sketch I could add to Walter Logeman Prints, Not Rothko?
I think people all over the world do imitations of Rothko’s, don’t they?
