Cutting for Stone: Abraham Verghese
I don’t know who recommended this, but I downloaded the sample when someone told me about it. Its a great book. it’s a saga, maybe sentimental, interesting because of its depth about Ethiopia and medicine. One reviewer called it ‘ecstatic realism’. Anyway I loved it. I’d hate the movie, I imagine it would be a manipulative tear jerker. The book transcends that.
Watch this video of the author talking about the book.
Hermes: Guide of Souls — Karl Kerényi
Publishing on the Net
It’s hit a new high. I see & hear & about 100 times the talk of self publishing books, and books on demand than even 6 months ago. (Later: checked out my hunch) And I buy self published books! Got the sample of this one, will buy it if I like it.
Kim Hill has a discussion with Kate De Goldie & Laura Kroetch on ebooks, (not much on self publishing though).

Exhibition in Brisbane GOMA
Going to this exhibit at the Gallery of Modern Art just before the psychodrama conference really warmed me up to Matisse, or more accurately to doing my own sketching.
More images follow. I’ll put up another post with Matisse drawings I found on the net.

Love the way I can download a sample and then decide if I want to read it.
Got it.
Getting the sex you want – by Tammy Nelson
John Gottman – Science of Trust
Enjoying this book because it is packed with little gems, and because I’m devouring anything to do with relationships as I translate it all into psychodrama language and enrich my psychodramatic approach to couples.
Some snippets follow, managing to cut and paste them via sharing with Twitter – I hate that I can’t cut and past from Kindle.
