I did this in a workshop last January with paint on paper!! – posing it while playing with MarsEdit, a blog posting tool for the Mac. Wondering how it handles images.
Later : lost the original. Now it is a digital image. I can print it!
An experiment in automatic drawing
I put myself in a receptive state of mind and let my hand just move without attempting to direct it, Ouija-board style.
This is in the tradition … Mark Toby, Jackson Pollock, letting nature come through … nature’s handwriting.
If Apple made a car would it have wheels like this?

Skeuomorphic thinking may work on occasions but on the whole it is bad. Fake spokes.
Like the fake leather in apple apps. Ugh.
The calendar app does it right on the interface, it tells me it is Wednesday 25! Just right.
Jobs invented the “desktop” metaphor (Or so its said), it is a guide in a place where nothing is real.
Going to this exhibit at the Gallery of Modern Art just before the psychodrama conference really warmed me up to Matisse, or more accurately to doing my own sketching.
More images follow. I’ll put up another post with Matisse drawings I found on the net.
Testing it here, but wanting to use this on In this moment… my art blog This is one of my early ThousandSketches
How and where to share photos remains a problem IMO. Flickr is rather wonderful but it is in the hands of yahoo, which is a gross company. I’ve hated them ever since they bought egroups and messed them up.
I have never managed the WordPress upload system well, perhaps that would be ok, but it is nice to have all my pix on a photo site that is social and public, yet not the blog. Zenphoto was ok, I had a series of rather nice albums. But it got out of date and let in the hack attack perhaps. Hard to maintain. There is a lot to be said for Flickr – WordPress, Facebook, twitter integration, slideshows, email sharing etc
This is an early sketch in my ThousandSketches – I recall being delighted how it captured my intention!

And I’m back on Flickr – tried Zenphoto but it does not have all the functionality, and upgrading it is hard, and I think it let the hack attack into my server. So, I’ll let yahoo do it. And I have copies in Aperture.
I’ve been linking the earthquake with Medusa. For some she is so frightening with her head of snakes that they turn to stone if they look.
